Gunner (cocktail)
A Gunner is a non-alcoholic or low-alcohol mixed drink, traditionally composed of ginger ale, ginger beer, and Angostura bitters. Lime juice is sometimes added as an optional ingredient, enhancing its refreshing tartness. Variations exist, with some recipes calling for club soda or lemonade as a substitute for either the ginger ale or ginger beer, depending on the desired level of ginger flavor and sweetness. It is commonly served over ice. The Gunner is considered a long drink, often enjoyed as a thirst quencher, particularly in warm weather. Its origins are obscure, but it's believed to have been popular in British expatriate communities, especially in Asia. The balance of spicy ginger, subtle bitter notes, and refreshing soda or ale is what defines the drink.
