Frank Dixon (lacrosse)

Frank Dixon (1885-1949) was a Canadian lacrosse player, considered one of the greatest players in the sport's history. He was primarily known for his skill as a goaltender.

Born in Six Nations of the Grand River, Ontario, Dixon was a member of the Mohawk Nation. He played his entire career with the Brantford Indians, dominating the Canadian lacrosse scene during the early 20th century. He was renowned for his agility, reflexes, and innovative goaltending techniques, which significantly influenced the evolution of the position.

Dixon's career spanned from the early 1900s to the 1920s. He led the Brantford Indians to numerous championships, including the Mann Cup, the senior men's lacrosse championship of Canada, in 1911, 1914, 1915, and 1923. He was a key figure in popularizing lacrosse across Canada.

Frank Dixon was inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1965. His legacy as a legendary goaltender continues to inspire lacrosse players today.
