Blokart

A Blokart, also known as a land yacht or sand yacht, is a single-person land sailing craft. It is essentially a go-kart powered by a sail, utilizing wind power to propel the vehicle across surfaces such as beaches, paved areas, and even frozen lakes.

Design and Operation

Blokarts typically consist of a tubular steel or aluminum frame, a seat for the driver, three wheels (two in the rear and one in the front for steering), and a sail mounted on a mast. Steering is accomplished by foot pedals that control the front wheel. The sail is controlled by a sheet (rope) that the driver uses to trim the sail for optimal performance in varying wind conditions. Blokarts are designed to be easily transportable and can often be disassembled for storage and transportation.

History and Popularity

The Blokart design was popularized in New Zealand and has since gained international recognition and popularity. Blokart racing is a recognized sport, with organized competitions held worldwide.
