Follow Thru (musical)

Follow Thru is a 1929 musical comedy with music by Ray Henderson, lyrics by Lew Brown and B. G. DeSylva, and a book by B. G. DeSylva and Laurence Schwab. The plot revolves around a female golf champion from Vassar College who falls in love with a male champion golfer from Yale. Romantic complications ensue as they prepare for a major tournament.

The musical opened on Broadway at the 46th Street Theatre on January 9, 1929, and ran for 403 performances. It was considered a success and helped solidify the careers of its creators.

Notable songs from Follow Thru include "Button Up Your Overcoat," "You're an Old Smoothie," and the title song, "Follow Thru." These songs became popular standards of the era.

The production was known for its lavish sets and costumes, typical of Broadway musicals of the late 1920s. It also featured elaborate dance numbers. While somewhat forgotten today, Follow Thru is remembered as a significant example of the collegiate-themed musicals popular during the Jazz Age. A film adaptation was released in 1930.
