Fields (progressive rock band)

Fields were a short-lived but highly regarded British progressive rock band formed in 1971. The band consisted of keyboardist Graham Field (formerly of Rare Bird), guitarist Alan Barry, bassist Andy Trill, and drummer Frank Farrell. Their music was characterized by complex arrangements, strong melodies, and a blend of progressive rock, jazz, and classical influences.

Fields released only one self-titled album in 1971, which is now considered a classic of the Canterbury scene and progressive rock genre. The album featured lengthy instrumental passages, intricate time signatures, and sophisticated keyboard work by Graham Field.

Despite critical acclaim and a growing following, Fields disbanded in 1972 due to internal conflicts and a lack of commercial success. After the band's dissolution, Graham Field continued his musical career with other projects, while the other members pursued different musical endeavors. The Fields album has been reissued several times over the years, maintaining its reputation as a significant contribution to the progressive rock landscape.
