Fiat Duna

The Fiat Duna is a subcompact car produced by Fiat in South America from 1985 to 2000. It was derived from the Fiat 147 (a South American version of the Fiat 127) and offered as a four-door sedan and a five-door estate (station wagon), known as the Fiat Weekend. The Duna was designed primarily for developing markets, offering affordable transportation with a focus on practicality.

Key characteristics of the Fiat Duna include its simple mechanical design, fuel efficiency, and relatively spacious interior for its size. It was initially available with a 1.3-liter petrol engine, later followed by 1.5-liter petrol and diesel options. Production took place in Argentina and Brazil, and it was also exported to other South American countries.

While the Duna offered basic transportation at a low price point, it was often criticized for its build quality, styling, and limited performance. Despite its shortcomings, the Duna was a popular car in South America due to its affordability and widespread availability, contributing significantly to Fiat's market share in the region during its production run. The Fiat Duna and Weekend were eventually replaced by newer Fiat models.
