Neozoic
The Neozoic Era is a deprecated term formerly used in some geologic timescales as a synonym for the Cenozoic Era. It is no longer in common scientific usage. The term Cenozoic, meaning "new life," is now preferred to describe the most recent of the three classic subdivisions of the Phanerozoic Eon, following the Mesozoic ("middle life") and Paleozoic ("ancient life") Eras. Using "Neozoic" is now considered outdated and potentially confusing as it lacks the precision and standardized definition of the Cenozoic. The Cenozoic encompasses the period from the end of the Cretaceous Period, 66 million years ago, to the present day.
