Take Me Out (American game show)
Take Me Out was an American adaptation of the Australian dating game show of the same name, which itself was based on the British program. It aired on Fox during the summer of 2012. The show was hosted by comedian George Lopez.
Premise:
The show featured a single man attempting to impress a panel of thirty single women. The women stood on a platform with illuminated buzzers. Initially, all thirty women had their lights on, signifying they were "in."
The single man was introduced and then subjected to a series of rounds designed to reveal his personality, talents, and quirks. These rounds typically included an introductory video, a talent demonstration, and the revelation of a potentially embarrassing or controversial fact.
After each round, the women had the option to "take themselves out" by pressing their buzzers, extinguishing their light, indicating they were no longer interested in the man.
If, at the end of all the rounds, the single man still had at least one light on, he would then choose one of the remaining women to go on a date with. The show paid for the date.
If all thirty women "took themselves out" before the end of all the rounds, a loud siren would sound, and the man would leave alone.
Differences from Other Versions:
While based on the Australian Take Me Out, the American version generally maintained a faster pace and a more comedic tone, reflecting George Lopez's hosting style.
Cancellation:
Take Me Out was not renewed for a second season. Its cancellation was likely due to low ratings.
