Ethan Slater
Ethan Slater (born June 2, 1992) is an American actor, singer, and writer. He is primarily known for his stage work, particularly his Tony Award-nominated portrayal of SpongeBob SquarePants in the Broadway musical SpongeBob SquarePants.
Slater's career began with regional theatre and off-Broadway productions. He graduated from Vassar College in 2014. His breakthrough role came in 2016 with the pre-Broadway tryout of SpongeBob SquarePants in Chicago. He then reprised the role on Broadway when the musical opened in 2017, earning critical acclaim and a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical.
Beyond SpongeBob SquarePants, Slater has appeared in other stage productions, including Assassins at the Yale Repertory Theatre. He has also ventured into television and film. He played the role of Boq in the film adaptation of the musical Wicked, scheduled for release in 2024. He has also appeared in television shows such as Fosse/Verdon.
