Energinet

Energinet is an independent public enterprise owned by the Danish state under the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities. Its core responsibility is to operate and develop the electricity and natural gas transmission grids in Denmark. This includes ensuring security of supply, facilitating the green transition by integrating renewable energy sources, and promoting competition in the energy market.

Energinet is responsible for the overall balance and stability of the Danish electricity system, managing the flow of electricity through high-voltage power lines across the country. Similarly, it manages the gas transmission network, transporting natural gas to distribution companies and large industrial consumers.

Furthermore, Energinet plays a key role in cross-border energy trading, connecting the Danish energy system to neighboring countries such as Germany, Norway, and Sweden via interconnectors.
