Ellenbogen (Rhön)

The Ellenbogen is, at 814 meters above sea level, the highest elevation in the Hessian part of the Rhön Mountains, Germany. It is located near Oberweid in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen, Thuringia, just east of the border with Hesse. The Ellenbogen is characterized by its basalt rock formations and its distinctive radar dome, a prominent landmark visible from afar. The area around the Ellenbogen is a popular destination for hiking and offers views across the Rhön region.
