SC Gatow
SC Gatow was a sports club based in the locality of Gatow in the Berlin borough of Spandau, Germany. It was primarily known for its football department.
Founded in 1922 as a factory sports club for the employees of the nearby Staaken airfield, it bore various names throughout its existence reflecting its association with different employers. These names included SV Werksflugplatz Staaken, LSV Staaken, and SG Staaken. Following World War II and the reorganization of German sports clubs, the club was re-established as SC Gatow.
SC Gatow experienced moderate success in Berlin's amateur football leagues. The club's most notable achievement was promotion to the Landesliga Berlin (then the highest amateur league) in the 1950s. They played at this level for several seasons but never achieved promotion to a higher division.
Throughout its history, SC Gatow remained a community-based club, drawing its membership primarily from the Gatow and surrounding areas. In addition to football, the club also offered other sports such as tennis and gymnastics.
In 1994, SC Gatow merged with neighboring club SV Kladow to form SG Gatow-Kladow. This merger aimed to consolidate resources and strengthen the sporting representation of the Gatow and Kladow communities. SG Gatow-Kladow continues to operate today, participating in Berlin's amateur football leagues. The legacy of SC Gatow is preserved within this combined entity.
