Eilissus

Eilissus is a fictional continent found in the fantasy novel series, The Obsidian Shard Chronicles by author Anya Thorne. It is described as a large, geographically diverse landmass located in the world of Aerthos, southwest of the more well-known continent of Eldoria.

Eilissus is characterized by its varied landscapes, including towering mountain ranges like the Spine of the World in the north, dense rainforests in the central regions known as the Emerald Jungles, and sprawling deserts in the southern territories referred to as the Sunstone Wastes. Several major rivers, notably the Serpentine and the Silverstream, flow across the continent, acting as vital trade routes and sources of life.

Politically, Eilissus is fragmented into numerous kingdoms, city-states, and tribal territories. The primary kingdoms include Aethelgard, known for its skilled warriors; Silvanon, famed for its intricate craftsmanship and magical arts; and the desert nation of Qara, renowned for its trade and cultural preservation. These powers frequently vie for dominance, leading to periods of conflict and shifting alliances.

The inhabitants of Eilissus are a diverse mix of humans, elves, dwarves, and other sentient races, each with their own unique cultures and traditions. Humans are the most populous race, while elves are primarily concentrated in the forests of Silvanon. Dwarves dwell primarily in the mountain ranges, particularly beneath the Spine of the World.

The history of Eilissus is marked by periods of both great prosperity and devastating wars. The Obsidian Age, a time of technological advancement and societal upheaval, left a lasting impact on the continent, and its remnants can still be found in ancient ruins and forgotten artifacts. The Eilissian people are known for their resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity. The dominant religion is centered around the worship of nature spirits and ancestral deities, though organized religion is largely absent.
