ELAM (Cyprus)

ELAM, the National Popular Front (Εθνικό Λαϊκό Μέτωπο (ΕΛΑΜ), Ethnikó Laïkó Métopo (ELAM)), is a far-right, ultranationalist political party in Cyprus. It is considered a fraternal party of the Greek Golden Dawn.

ELAM advocates for a united Cyprus under Greek control, a policy known as Enosis. The party opposes Turkish Cypriots and seeks to promote Greek Cypriot culture and identity. Its platform typically includes anti-immigration policies and nationalist rhetoric.

ELAM first contested parliamentary elections in 2011, failing to win any seats. They gained representation in the Cypriot Parliament in the 2016 elections and increased their share of the vote in subsequent elections. Their political influence, while still representing a minority view, has grown within the Cypriot political landscape. The party's ideology and actions have been a source of controversy within Cyprus and internationally.
