DriveNow
DriveNow was a carsharing service headquartered in Munich, Germany. It was a joint venture between BMW and Sixt. The service allowed registered users to rent vehicles by the minute, hour, or day in several major cities across Europe and, for a brief period, in North America.
DriveNow utilized a free-floating carsharing model, meaning that vehicles could be picked up and dropped off within a designated operating area, without the need to return them to a specific station. Users located available vehicles using a mobile app, which also facilitated unlocking and locking the cars. Billing was based on usage time, with rates varying depending on the vehicle model and city.
The vehicle fleet consisted primarily of BMW and MINI models. DriveNow offered various carsharing packages, including minute-based rentals, hourly packages, and daily rates, catering to different usage needs.
In 2018, BMW Group and Daimler AG merged their mobility services, including DriveNow and car2go, to form a new joint venture called SHARE NOW. DriveNow officially ceased operations and its existing fleet was integrated into the SHARE NOW platform. The DriveNow app and brand were discontinued.
