Doryssus

Doryssus is a genus of extinct artiodactyls belonging to the family Xiphodontidae. Xiphodontidae were small, slender, and agile herbivores that lived during the Eocene epoch. Fossils of Doryssus have been found in Europe, particularly in France and the United Kingdom.

These animals were characterized by their elongated limbs and gracile build, suggesting an adaptation for running and leaping. Doryssus, like other xiphodontids, possessed selenodont molars, which are adapted for grinding plant matter. They were likely browsers, feeding on leaves and other soft vegetation in forested environments.
