Alejandro Amenábar (born 1972) is a Spanish-Chilean film director, screenwriter, and composer. He is known for his psychological thrillers and science fiction films, often exploring themes of identity, memory, and morality.
Early Life and Career:
Born in Santiago, Chile, Amenábar emigrated to Spain with his family during his childhood to escape the Pinochet regime. He studied at the Complutense University of Madrid, initially pursuing a degree in audio-visual communication, which he later abandoned to focus on filmmaking. He gained early recognition for his short films before making his feature directorial debut with Tesis (1996).
