Raid 2 (film)

Raid 2, also known as The Raid 2: Berandal, is a 2014 Indonesian martial arts action film written and directed by Gareth Evans. It is a sequel to the 2011 film The Raid: Redemption. Iko Uwais reprises his role as Rama, an Indonesian police officer who goes undercover to expose corruption within the Jakarta police force and the Indonesian Mafia.

The film follows Rama's infiltration of a powerful crime family led by Bangun (Tio Pakusadewo) and his son Uco (Arifin Putra), while simultaneously navigating a bloody gang war between Bangun and a rival Japanese Yakuza clan headed by Goto (Kenichi Endo). The narrative expands on the first film's claustrophobic setting, moving beyond the single apartment building to encompass various locations throughout Jakarta.

Raid 2 is noted for its extended fight sequences, intricate choreography, and use of various martial arts styles, primarily Pencak Silat. The film received critical acclaim for its action, cinematography, and performances, although some critics noted its significantly longer runtime compared to its predecessor. It was a commercial success, further solidifying the international recognition of Indonesian action cinema.
