Tangled Up (Girls Aloud album)
Tangled Up is the fourth studio album by British-Irish girl group Girls Aloud, released in the United Kingdom on 22 October 2007 by Fascination Records. Building on the sonic foundations of their previous albums, Tangled Up continued the group's exploration of electropop, dance-pop, and elements of new wave music. The album features production from Brian Higgins and Xenomania, who had been integral to Girls Aloud's sound since their debut.
The album spawned four singles: "Sexy! No No No...", "Call the Shots", "Can't Speak French", and "Untouchable". "Sexy! No No No..." and "Call the Shots" both achieved significant commercial success, reaching number five and number three on the UK Singles Chart, respectively. "Can't Speak French" peaked at number nine, while "Untouchable" reached number eleven.
Tangled Up received generally positive reviews from music critics, who praised its experimental sound, catchy hooks, and strong vocal performances. The album debuted at number four on the UK Albums Chart and was later certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for sales exceeding 300,000 copies.
Following the release of Tangled Up, Girls Aloud embarked on the Tangled Up Tour, which spanned the UK and Ireland in 2008. The tour was a critical and commercial success, further solidifying the album's popularity. Tangled Up is often considered a highlight in Girls Aloud's discography and a significant contribution to the UK pop music scene of the late 2000s.
