Disney Channel (United Kingdom and Ireland)

Disney Channel (United Kingdom and Ireland) was a British and Irish television channel owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company Ltd. Broadcasting began on October 1, 1995, originally under the name The Disney Channel. It primarily targeted a demographic of children and pre-teens, showcasing a mix of original series produced by Disney, acquired animated programs, and Disney theatrical films.

The channel's programming schedule consisted of live-action sitcoms, animated series, and made-for-TV movies produced under the Disney Channel Original Movie banner (often abbreviated as DCOM). Prominent original series included shows like Lizzie McGuire, That's So Raven, Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and Phineas and Ferb. Acquired programming often included animated series from other studios.

The Disney Channel (United Kingdom and Ireland) operated a timeshift channel called Disney Channel +1, which broadcast the same schedule one hour later. It also had spin-off channels, including Disney XD (originally Toon Disney and then Jetix) and Disney Junior.

The channel ceased broadcasting on October 1, 2020. Its content was largely migrated to the Disney+ streaming service, which launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland earlier that year. The closure was part of a larger strategic shift by The Walt Disney Company towards prioritizing streaming services. At the time of its closure, it was available on major pay-TV platforms including Sky, Virgin Media, and BT TV.
