Days of the Bagnold Summer (film)
Days of the Bagnold Summer is a 2019 British coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by Simon Bird, in his directorial debut. It is based on the 2012 graphic novel of the same name by Joff Winterhart. The film stars Earl Cave as Daniel Bagnold, a teenage metalhead whose plans for a summer in Florida are cancelled, forcing him to spend the summer with his librarian mother, Sue, played by Monica Dolan. The film explores themes of family relationships, teenage angst, and finding common ground. The soundtrack features original music by Belle and Sebastian. The film premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in August 2019 and was released in the United Kingdom in 2020.
