Out of Range (album)
Out of Range is the fifth studio album by the Australian rock band, The Models. It was released in November 1985 and marked a significant shift in the band's sound, moving away from their earlier post-punk/new wave influences towards a more commercially accessible pop rock style.
The album was produced by Mark Opitz, known for his work with Australian rock icons like AC/DC and Cold Chisel. This collaboration aimed to refine The Models' sound and broaden their appeal.
Out of Range spawned several successful singles, including "Out of Mind, Out of Sight," which reached number one on the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart, becoming the band's biggest hit. Other notable singles from the album include "Barbados" and "Big On Love."
The album received mixed reviews upon its release. While praised for its polished production and catchy melodies, some critics felt it lacked the artistic depth and experimental edge of The Models' earlier work. However, Out of Range proved to be a commercial success, reaching number one on the Australian Kent Music Report Albums Chart and achieving platinum certification. It remains one of The Models' most well-known and commercially successful albums.
