David Ward (sheriff)

David Ward is the Sheriff of Franklin County, Ohio. He was first elected in 2020 and took office in January 2021. As Sheriff, Ward is responsible for overseeing law enforcement operations, managing the Franklin County Corrections Center (jail), and providing court security services. His office also handles civil process and provides training to deputies. Prior to becoming Sheriff, Ward served for over 25 years with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, holding various positions including patrol deputy, detective, and commander. He holds a bachelor's degree and has completed various law enforcement training programs. Ward ran on a platform emphasizing community policing and addressing issues such as opioid addiction and violence in the county. His term is set to expire in 2024.
