David Myers (Australian footballer)
David Myers (born 30 May 1989) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).
Myers was drafted by Essendon with the sixth overall selection in the 2007 AFL National Draft, from the Perth Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). He made his AFL debut in Round 1 of the 2008 season against the Adelaide Crows. A midfielder, Myers was known for his contested ball winning ability and tackling pressure.
His career was significantly impacted by the Essendon Football Club supplements saga. He was one of 34 Essendon players suspended for the 2016 season due to his involvement in the club's controversial supplements program.
Upon returning from suspension, Myers resumed his role in the Essendon midfield. He served as a vice-captain of the club for the 2019 season.
Myers retired from AFL football at the end of the 2019 season, having played 123 games for Essendon. Since retirement, he has pursued other interests outside of football.
