David Hess (politician)

David Hess is an American politician who served as the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) under Governor Tom Ridge from 2001 to 2003 and Governor Mark Schweiker from 2003 to 2003.

Prior to serving as Secretary, Hess worked in various capacities for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and its predecessor agencies for over 20 years. His roles included serving as Chief Counsel, Deputy Secretary for Policy and Communications, and Regional Director.

After his tenure as Secretary of DEP, Hess served as a senior vice president at lobbying firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. He has also been involved in various environmental consulting and advisory roles.

Hess is a graduate of Dickinson College and Dickinson School of Law. He is often cited as an expert on Pennsylvania environmental policy.
