Danny Wilson (band)

Danny Wilson was a Scottish pop band formed in Dundee in the early 1980s. The band consisted of Gary Clark (vocals/guitar), Kit Clark (guitar/vocals), and Jim Prime (keyboards). They are best known for their 1987 hit single "Mary's Prayer," which reached number 3 in the UK Singles Chart and enjoyed success internationally.

Danny Wilson's music was characterized by its melodic pop sensibilities, sophisticated arrangements, and Gary Clark's distinctive vocals. Their sound incorporated elements of jazz, soul, and new wave.

The band released two studio albums: Meet Danny Wilson (1987) and Bebop Moptop (1989). Meet Danny Wilson was their most commercially successful album, largely due to the popularity of "Mary's Prayer." Bebop Moptop explored a more experimental and diverse range of sounds.

Despite their initial success, Danny Wilson disbanded in the early 1990s. Gary Clark went on to pursue a solo career as a songwriter and producer, working with artists such as Natalie Imbruglia and KT Tunstall. The band briefly reunited for a few performances in the late 2000s.
