Gary Born
Gary Born is an American lawyer widely recognized as a leading authority on international arbitration and litigation. He is the Chair of the International Arbitration Practice Group at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP.
Born's expertise encompasses both commercial and investment treaty arbitration. He has served as counsel in over 675 international arbitrations, including some of the largest and most complex disputes. He also sits as an arbitrator under all major institutional rules, including those of the ICC, LCIA, AAA/ICDR, SCC, HKIAC, SIAC, and ICSID.
Born is the author of several highly regarded books and articles in the field, including "International Commercial Arbitration" (3rd ed., Kluwer Law International 2021), a comprehensive three-volume treatise; "International Arbitration: Law and Practice" (3rd ed., Kluwer Law International 2022); and "International Investment Arbitration: Substantive Principles" (3rd ed., Kluwer Law International 2021). These works are frequently cited by courts and tribunals worldwide.
He is also a Professorial Lecturer in Law at Stanford Law School.
