Salvatore Todaro (mobster)
Salvatore "Sam" Todaro (born November 22, 1912, died December 19, 1969) was a Sicilian-American mobster and a high-ranking member of the Cleveland crime family. He served as a consigliere for much of the 1960s under boss John Scalish.
Todaro was a key figure in the Cleveland underworld, involved in various criminal activities including gambling, loansharking, and extortion. He operated primarily from Cleveland's Little Italy neighborhood. He was known for his calm demeanor and strategic thinking, qualities that made him a valuable advisor to Scalish.
Todaro's influence extended beyond Cleveland, and he maintained connections with other Mafia families across the United States. He played a role in mediating disputes and coordinating activities between different organized crime groups.
Salvatore Todaro died of natural causes in December 1969. His death created a power vacuum within the Cleveland family, which contributed to the internal strife that would characterize the organization in the years that followed.
