Chungking (band)
Chungking was a British electronica band formed in London in 1996. The band was comprised of multi-instrumentalist and producer Chris Raven, and vocalist Esther Springett. They are known for their distinctive blend of electronica, trip-hop, and ambient influences.
Chungking released two studio albums: Chungking (1998) and They Sink (2000). Their debut album featured tracks such as "Test Pilot" and "Something Violent," which gained significant airplay and helped to establish their reputation. They Sink continued to explore the band's experimental sound.
While Chungking achieved critical acclaim and built a dedicated following, they disbanded in the early 2000s. Despite their relatively short career, they are considered influential in the electronica scene, particularly for their unique sound and Springett's evocative vocals. After the band dissolved, Chris Raven continued to work in music production and sound design. Information on Esther Springett's activities after Chungking is limited.
