Del Taco

Del Taco Restaurants, Inc., operating as Del Taco, is an American fast-food restaurant chain specializing in American-style Mexican cuisine as well as American foods such as burgers, fries, and milkshakes. It is considered a hybrid fast-food concept, combining elements of traditional American fast food with Mexican-inspired dishes.

Founded in 1964 in Barstow, California, by Ed Hackbarth and David Jameson, Del Taco initially focused on a limited menu of tacos, tostadas, and burgers, offered at low prices. The name "Del Taco" is a portmanteau of "Del" (from Jameson's first name, David) and "Taco."

Over the years, Del Taco expanded its menu and footprint, establishing locations throughout the United States, primarily in the Western states. Key menu items include tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, crinkle-cut fries, and various breakfast items. They are known for their value pricing and late-night hours.

Del Taco has undergone several ownership changes throughout its history. In 2022, Jack in the Box Inc. acquired Del Taco, bringing the two fast-food brands under the same corporate umbrella.

The company is headquartered in San Diego, California. As of recent reports, there are hundreds of Del Taco locations across numerous states. Del Taco continues to operate as a distinct brand within the Jack in the Box Inc. portfolio, maintaining its unique menu and brand identity.
