Cawthorpe

Cawthorpe is a village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 3 miles (5 km) south of Louth.

The parish includes the hamlet of Cawthorpe Moor. The name "Cawthorpe" is thought to derive from the Old English "calda" meaning "cold" and "thorp" meaning "village" or "farmstead", thus signifying a "cold village".

Historically, Cawthorpe was primarily an agricultural community. The population has remained relatively small throughout its history. Cawthorpe is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.

The parish church of Saint Helen is a Grade II listed building. It underwent significant restoration in the 19th century.
