Cassarate
Cassarate is a neighborhood and former municipality within the city of Lugano, in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland. It is located east of the city center, on the slopes of Monte Brè, and borders the Cassarate River.
Historically, Cassarate was an independent municipality until its incorporation into Lugano in 2004. Its history dates back centuries, with evidence of settlement in Roman times. Prior to its integration, Cassarate possessed its own local government and infrastructure.
Today, Cassarate is primarily a residential area, characterized by a mix of traditional Ticinese architecture and modern buildings. It offers a more suburban feel than the dense city center of Lugano, while still maintaining convenient access to Lugano's amenities and attractions.
