Carol Williams (organist)

Carol Williams is an American concert organist known for her virtuosity, showmanship, and advocacy for the pipe organ. She is one of the few full-time touring concert organists in the world.

Williams has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, appearing in prestigious venues such as St. Paul's Cathedral (London), Notre Dame Cathedral (Paris), and the Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles). Her repertoire spans a wide range of musical styles, from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary compositions and improvisations. She is known for her innovative arrangements of popular and orchestral works for the organ.

Williams received her musical training at the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music and later studied with notable organists. In addition to her concert performances, she is also active as a teacher and clinician, giving masterclasses and workshops.

She is a strong advocate for introducing the pipe organ to new audiences, particularly young people. She often incorporates multimedia elements into her concerts, such as video projections and lighting effects, to enhance the audience experience and demonstrate the versatility of the instrument. Her mission is to revitalize the interest in the pipe organ and promote its appreciation as a vital and relevant musical instrument. She also works to commission new works for the organ.
