Billy Irwin (boxer)

Billy Irwin (born February 5, 1967, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada) is a retired Canadian professional boxer. Irwin competed primarily as a super featherweight and lightweight during his career, which spanned from 1987 to 2001.

Irwin is perhaps best known for winning the IBO World Lightweight title in 1993, defeating Lester Ellis by unanimous decision. He defended the title successfully once against Calvin Grove before losing it to Leavander Johnson in 1994.

Throughout his career, Irwin faced numerous notable opponents, including Stevie Johnston, Kostya Tszyu, and Miguel Ángel González. He also challenged for the WBC International Lightweight title against González in 1996, but was unsuccessful.

Irwin retired from boxing with a professional record of 42 wins, 7 losses, and 1 draw, with 31 wins by knockout.
