Carlos Sánchez (footballer, born 1984)

Carlos Alberto Sánchez Moreno (born February 6, 1984), commonly known as Carlos Sánchez, is a Colombian professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder.

Sánchez began his professional career in Uruguay with Danubio, before moving to River Plate Montevideo. He then moved to Europe, playing for Valenciennes in France.

He subsequently played in the English Premier League for Aston Villa and West Ham United, before returning to Italy with Fiorentina. He also had loan spells with Espanyol in Spain and Watford in England.

A Colombian international since 2007, Sánchez has represented his country at numerous international tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and 2018, as well as several editions of the Copa América. Known for his combative style and tackling ability, Sánchez has often been a key player in the Colombian midfield.
