Canindea
Canindea is a genus of Neotropical longhorn beetles in the family Cerambycidae, subfamily Lamiinae. They are found primarily in South America, specifically in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. The genus is characterized by its slender body shape and distinctive coloration patterns, often involving a combination of black, yellow, and red markings. They are generally found in forested habitats and their larvae are presumed to be wood-boring, though precise host plant information is often lacking for many species. The genus Canindea was established by Galileo and Galileo in 1991. Species within the genus exhibit variations in size and color pattern, which are used in taxonomic identification. Further research is needed to fully understand the biology and ecological roles of these beetles.
