Brixton (London County Council constituency)

Brixton was a territorial electoral division for the London County Council in the United Kingdom. It existed from 1889 to 1949, electing two county councillors. The constituency was coterminous with the parliamentary constituency of Brixton.

The boundaries of the constituency evolved over time to reflect population changes and administrative re-organisations. Initially, its area was largely defined by the parliamentary constituency it mirrored. Later adjustments were made to ensure relatively equal representation across London.

Notable councillors who represented Brixton on the London County Council included members of the Progressive Party (later the Liberal Party), the Municipal Reform Party (associated with the Conservative Party), and the Labour Party. The political affiliation of the elected councillors varied over the years, reflecting broader shifts in London's political landscape.

The abolition of the London County Council in 1965 marked the end of the Brixton constituency. Its area was then incorporated into new electoral divisions of the Greater London Council.
