Brian Fitzpatrick (rugby union)

Brian Fitzpatrick (born October 3, 1931, died July 17, 2006) was a New Zealand rugby union player and coach. He played as a lock and represented Auckland and the All Blacks.

Fitzpatrick was a prominent figure in New Zealand rugby during the 1950s and 1960s. He played 34 tests for the All Blacks between 1954 and 1964, captaining the team in 9 of those tests. Known for his strength and athleticism, he was a key member of the All Blacks pack during a successful era.

After retiring from playing, Fitzpatrick became a coach. He coached Auckland and served as a selector for the All Blacks. He was also involved in rugby administration. His contribution to New Zealand rugby was significant, both on and off the field.

Fitzpatrick was inducted into the New Zealand Rugby Hall of Fame in 2011. His son, Sean Fitzpatrick, also became a highly successful All Blacks captain.
