Breynia

Breynia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Phyllanthaceae, formerly belonging to the Euphorbiaceae. These plants are generally shrubs or small trees, native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.

Description:

Breynia species are characterized by their alternate leaves, which are often distichous (arranged in two opposite rows) giving the appearance of a compound leaf. The genus includes a number of species, with some of the more commonly known ones being Breynia disticha (Snowbush) and Breynia oblongifolia (Coffee Bush).
