Bonsack

A Bonsack is a type of backpack, specifically a large duffel bag-style backpack typically used by Boy Scouts and other outdoor enthusiasts for carrying camping gear and personal belongings. The name is derived from the company that originally manufactured them, the Bonsack Machine Company of Salem, Ohio. These packs were particularly popular in the mid-20th century and are often characterized by their durable canvas construction, simple design, and relatively large capacity. While the Bonsack Machine Company no longer produces these packs, the term "Bonsack" has sometimes been used generically to refer to similar large canvas or heavy-duty duffel bag backpacks.
