Norman Cameron (politician)
Norman Cameron (born June 12, 1931, died November 1, 2017) was a British Conservative politician. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Surbiton from 1970 to 1983.
Cameron was educated at Bradford Grammar School and Caius College, Cambridge, where he read classics. Before entering Parliament, he worked in advertising and as a journalist.
During his time in Parliament, Cameron held several junior ministerial positions, including Under-Secretary of State for Social Services (1974) and Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Security (1981-1983). He was known for his strong support of Margaret Thatcher's policies and his advocacy for free markets.
After losing his seat in the 1983 general election, Cameron pursued various business interests. He remained active in Conservative politics, though not as an elected official.
