Bob Kennedy (runner) is an American former long-distance runner, specializing in the 5,000 meters. He is notable for holding the American record in the 5,000 meters for a considerable period.

Kennedy was a prominent figure in American distance running during the 1990s and early 2000s. He represented the United States at the Olympic Games in 1992 (Barcelona) and 1996 (Atlanta).

His American record in the 5,000 meters, set in 1996 in Zurich, Switzerland, stood for over 14 years. He ran the distance in 12:58.21, becoming the first American to break the 13-minute barrier. This accomplishment marked a significant milestone in American distance running.

Kennedy attended Indiana University, where he was a highly successful collegiate runner. He was coached by Sam Bell. His collegiate career laid the foundation for his future success on the international stage.
