Miss Prissy (dancer)

Miss Prissy, born Shirlene Quigley, is an American dancer, choreographer, and instructor primarily known for her contributions to the development and popularization of the street dance style known as "bucking," a style rooted in the J-Setting traditions of historically Black fraternities and sororities, particularly those of the Divine Nine. While the term "bucking" itself has broader applications within the J-Setting and majorette dance worlds, Miss Prissy is largely credited with bringing the style to a wider audience and influencing its modern, high-energy form. She has appeared in music videos for numerous artists including Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Missy Elliott. She frequently teaches workshops and masterclasses, both nationally and internationally, focusing on bucking and other related dance styles. Miss Prissy is considered a major figure in the New Orleans bounce music scene and its associated dance culture, and is known for her dynamic performances and dedication to preserving and innovating within the art form. Beyond performing, she has served as a mentor and inspiration to many dancers, particularly within the Black community.
