Bob Grim (baseball)
Robert Lincoln "Bob" Grim (July 17, 1930 – October 9, 2003) was an American professional baseball player. He was a right-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1954 to 1962, primarily for the New York Yankees.
Grim was signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in 1950. He made his major league debut on April 17, 1954. His rookie season was a standout, as he finished with a 20-6 record, a 3.18 ERA, and was named the American League Rookie of the Year. He was a key member of the Yankees pitching staff during their dominant run in the 1950s, helping the team win World Series championships in 1956 and 1958.
While he never replicated his rookie season success, Grim remained a valuable pitcher for the Yankees for several years. He was known for his curveball.
In addition to the Yankees, Grim also played for the Kansas City Athletics (1961-1962) and the Cleveland Indians (1962). He finished his MLB career with a 60-43 record and a 4.06 ERA.
After his playing career, Grim remained involved in baseball, working as a scout for several organizations. He died in 2003 at the age of 73.
