Billy Shepherd (basketball)
Billy Shepherd is a former American college basketball player known for his career at Butler University. A 5'10" guard, Shepherd played for Butler from 1988 to 1993 (redshirting the 1989-90 season due to injury). He is best recognized for leading the Bulldogs to the Sweet Sixteen of the 1992 NCAA Tournament.
Shepherd finished his career as one of Butler's all-time leading scorers and was named the Midwestern Collegiate Conference (now Horizon League) Player of the Year in 1991 and 1993. He was also a three-time All-MCC selection. He was known for his clutch shooting and playmaking abilities. Following his collegiate career, Shepherd played professionally overseas.
His jersey number 30 is retired by Butler University. He remains a prominent figure in Butler basketball history.
