Bill White (ice hockey)

William Earl "Bill" White (born July 26, 1939, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, died May 21, 2017) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman, coach, and general manager. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings, Chicago Black Hawks, and Philadelphia Flyers, and in the World Hockey Association (WHA) for the Chicago Cougars.

White was known for his strong defensive play and leadership abilities. He was a key member of the Philadelphia Flyers' "Broad Street Bullies" teams that won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975, serving as team captain during the 1974-75 season.

Prior to his NHL career, White played in the minor leagues, including stints with the Springfield Indians and the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Following his playing career, White transitioned to coaching and management. He served as head coach of the Chicago Black Hawks for parts of two seasons (1976-77 and 1977-78) and later held the position of general manager for the Detroit Vipers of the International Hockey League (IHL).
