Bill Travers (baseball)
William "Bill" Travers (born October 16, 1942) is a former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers (1967-1974), Milwaukee Brewers (1974-1976), California Angels (1976-1977), and Texas Rangers (1977).
Travers was primarily a starting pitcher. He was a member of the 1968 World Series-winning Detroit Tigers team, although he did not pitch in the World Series. He had his best season in 1969, posting a 14-8 record with a 3.18 ERA. He threw a one-hit shutout against the Baltimore Orioles on August 24, 1970.
Throughout his MLB career, Travers accumulated a record of 60 wins and 72 losses, with an ERA of 3.73. He pitched in 242 games, starting 159 of them. After his playing career, he worked as a pitching coach.
