James Grundy (politician)
James Grundy (born 5 August 1983) is a British Conservative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Leigh since the 2019 general election.
Prior to his election to Parliament, Grundy served as a councillor on Wigan Council, representing Lowton East ward. He was first elected to the council in 2008. He unsuccessfully contested the Leigh constituency in the 2015 and 2017 general elections before winning in 2019, defeating Labour's Jo Platt. Leigh had been a Labour constituency since its creation in 1918.
In Parliament, Grundy has served on various committees, including the Education Select Committee. He has been a vocal advocate for issues affecting his constituency, such as investment in local infrastructure and improved transport links. He is generally considered to be on the right of the Conservative Party.
