Benowo
Benowo is a sub-district (Indonesian: Kecamatan) located in the western part of Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. It is situated to the west of the city center and is known for its industrial areas, residential areas, and increasingly, its connection to the Surabaya–Gresik highway.
Administratively, Benowo is further divided into several villages (Indonesian: Kelurahan), including but not limited to Kandangan, Romokalisari, Sememi, and Tambak Osowilangun.
Benowo has seen significant development in recent years due to its strategic location and proximity to industrial zones. The area serves as a crucial link between Surabaya and the neighboring industrial city of Gresik. Its economy is influenced by both industrial activity and residential development supporting workers in those industries.
Environmental concerns, particularly related to industrial pollution and urban sprawl, are areas of ongoing focus for local government and residents in Benowo.
