Ben Stahl (artist)

Ben Stahl (1910-1987) was an American artist, illustrator, and author known for his dramatic and expressive paintings and illustrations, particularly in the fields of advertising, magazine illustration, and religious art.

Stahl studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and quickly established himself as a successful commercial artist. His work appeared in major publications such as The Saturday Evening Post, Collier's, Esquire, and Cosmopolitan. He was renowned for his ability to capture human emotion and create compelling narratives within his illustrations.

Beyond his commercial work, Stahl was a respected fine artist. He experimented with various styles and techniques, often incorporating elements of surrealism and expressionism into his paintings. Later in his career, he focused increasingly on religious themes, producing a series of large-scale paintings depicting scenes from the Bible.
